The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak will be undertaking a working visit to New Delhi, India from 25 to 26 January 2018 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, Hon. Narendra Modi to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor; Minister of Health and President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) party, Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam;Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed; and senior government officials.

The ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit will be held in conjunction with the 25thanniversary of ASEAN-India dialogue relations with the theme of “Shared Values, Common Destiny”. The Summit will also serve as a platform for the ASEAN Member States and India to reflect the achievements of ASEAN-India dialogue relations over the past 25 years as well as to chart the future direction of the strategic partnership. In addition, it will serve as an ideal setting for the Leaders to engage in both formal and informal exchanges particulary on ASEAN-India cooperation as well as regional and international issues.

During the Commemorative Summit, the Leaders are expected to adopt the Delhi Declaration. The Declaration would strengthen the ASEAN-India cooperation and collaboration in all areas, especially on combatting terrorism, regional connectivity and business ties as well as deepening the people-to-people interactions for regional peace, stability and prosperity.

The Prime Minister along with other ASEAN Leaders are also scheduled to attend the 69thRepublic Day of India on 26 January 2018 as Guests of Honour.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss issues of mutual concern.
