15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summit

The 15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand, 23-25 October 2009

The 15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits was successfully held at Dhusit Thani Hotel, Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand from 23 to 25 October 2009. The event was attended by delegations from ASEAN Member States and its Dialogue partners from Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and Republic of Korea. The theme for the 15th ASEAN Summit is “Enhancing Connectivity, Empowering peoples”. Malaysia’s delegation was led by Y.A.B. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and accompanied by Ministers and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture, and the Economic Planning Unit.

Among the key highlights of the 15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits are the Ceremony to Inaugurate the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of the ASEAN-China Centre. Y.A.B. Prime Minister also chaired the 6th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit on 25 October 2009.
